Betting on the X Factor

Well the X Factor 2008 race is almost run and the runners and riders are on the homeward straight, there is still time though to place a special TV bet on the Ultimate winner of the X Factor 2008. Do you think that Diana Vickers (the bookies X Factor favourite) has that all important star quality, or are you taken by the boyish Gaelic charm of Eoghan Quigg? Who will finally win the X Factor 2008, which act will you place a TV bet on to win?

If you are a regular viewer of the X Factor you will be well versed in the whole elimination process, but for those people who have lived on another planet for the last five years the background follows (although very briefly) Open X Factor auditions are carried out in various locations across the UK for approximately 4 months, during which time the poor judges are exposed to (it has to be said) vast quantities of the delusional as well as a few very talented acts. The acts are whittled down from around 180,000 to just 150, these select few then go on to X Factor Boot Camp where they are put through their paces and eventually are auditioned again and reduced down to 24 and then down to 12. The survivors are then grouped into Boys (under 25), Girls (under25), Over 25’s and Groups and are allocated a ‘mentor’. The mentor’s are also the final X Factor judges, Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Danni Minogue or Cheryl Cole. All which brings us to the point where we are at the moment, most of the final twelve have been eliminated over the last few weeks and the X Factor is now down to the final five.

Additional TV bets on the X Factor are available and they range from the sensible ‘X Factor Winner to be 2008 Christmas No.1’ to the faintly ridiculous bet with odds of 80/1 at Paddy Power ‘Cheryl Cole to do a full striptease to her underwear live’. Well sorry to disappoint you lads but that is never going to happen, so bet away! And anyway, It is called the X Factor but that doesn’t mean it is X rated!
