Disappointment as Barcelona win the European Champions League

Of course the big news this week is the UEFA Champions League Final 2009 football match between Barcelona and Manchester United which took place in Rome’s Stadio Olimpico. Bet 365 and other bookmakers had Barcelona as the favourite to win the clash of the titans UEFA Champions League final match, and both teams are as keen as mustard to win and obtain the kudos that goes with the most prestigious European title.

Unfortunately for the Manchester United fans on the edge of their seats both in Rome and at home in front of their television sets, the trophy was pretty much in Barcelona’s hands from the outset. Although the first ten minutes seemed to give Manchester United the edge it was Barcelona who eventually went on to score two goals, the first came as a shock to Manchester United in the first 10 minutes of the first half by Eto’o and the second one about midway through the second half by Messi finally sealed Manchester United’s fate. Barcelona were like terriers and would not let Manchester United get control of the ball, and the second half was almost completely Barcelona’s match. Bookies including Bet 365 had odds of 66-1 of Manchester United managing to pull things back in the second half and to be honest it never really looked as if they had any real chance.
