Ronnie O Sullivan

Ronnie O’Sullivan has managed to get through to the Quarter finals of the Snooker Masters after a nail biting opening game against Joe Perry. Ronnie O’Sullivan wasn’t playing his best ever snooker, struggling to get to grips with a replacement cue after snapping his favoured cue on Friday in a fit of pique. The cue that was broken had previously served Ronnie O’Sullivan well and assisted in his UK and World title wins, and was the subject of some regret after the event with Ronnie O’Sullivan being reported as saying “I really went to town, it felt really good. It wasn’t easy to snap it”, further adding “then I thought, was that wise?” The new cue that was used in the snooker match against Perry, was one of seven that were sent hurriedly from John Parris, one of the leading snooker cue makers, to O’Sullivan as replacements, and had been sent at such short notice that Ronnie O’Sullivan had barely had an opportunity to do more than basic practice with it, and indeed now requires some minor adjustments to make the grade.

Both players fought valiantly with not much between them, in fact at one point it looked like victory in the Snooker Masters was going to lay with Perry. However in the last frame O’Sullivan managed to claw back to lead after Perry left a very helpful pink in the corner pocket, with O’Sullivan then going on to win his opening game in the Snooker Masters by 6-5 in front of the 2,000 strong crowd at Wembley Arena. Rocket Ronnie O’Sullivan will now meet either Ali Carter or Peter Ebdon in the next round of the Snooker Masters on Thursday, but will certainly need to get to grips with his new cue should he want to be in with a chance of reaching next Sundays Snooker Masters final or for the opportunity of seizing his fourth Masters win. The Snooker Masters is on until the 19th January, see our betting Directory for details of all the best online sportsbooks to place your bets on the ultimate winner of this exciting snooker tournament.
