With January upon us the talk is now directed at football transfers; Who wants to go? Who will go? Is there anything to be gained from a football transfer? Is there any money to spare in the current economic crisis to pay football transfer fees? One club with such a dilemma is Middlesborough, speculation has been rife that two key players are being courted to leave namely, Tuncay Sanli who has received interest allegedly from Chelsea and Stewart Downing who has received some interest from Tottenham Hotspur. Manager, Gareth Southgate has poured scorn on speculation that either player is leaving, stating repeatedly that allowing key players to leave in football transfers would further weaken their already precarious position in the murky depths at the bottom of the Barclays Premier League. However it would appear that Downing is now forcing the situation by making a formal football transfer request, Southgate is likely to remain unimpressed as he has been reported as being less than happy about the whole football transfer process.

Manchester United are reported as having a keen interest in a deal to secure the transfer of Fabian Delph who is seen by Fergie as an ideal replacement for midfielder Paul Scholes. The football transfer deal on the table by Manchester United reportedly hinges on a cash sum plus two players to be given to Leeds United in exchange for Delph, Leeds have had another bid from Fulham proffered for the young star which is believed to be in the region of £6m.

Other confirmed movers and shakers on the football transfer lists are two Serbian players 21 year old Zoran Tosic and 17 year old Adem Ljajic who have both been officially signed to Manchester United. Tosic will be wearing the no.14 shirt with immediate effect with Ljajic staying with his current club Partizan Belgrade until 2010 when he will make the transfer.
